The new state law, Senate Bill 734 (2006), has expanded the use of the Institutional Security prescription forms to clinics that have more than 25 physician or surgeons and to all Hospitals which is open 24 hours. A designated prescriber will order the prescriptions, receive delivery of, and distribute the prescriptions internally to the licensed health care providers. The individual prescribers will then write or stamp their name along with their DEA and CA license numbers when writing a prescription. The Institutional forms are ideal for clinics and hospitals that have larger turnover of providers such as residency programs or clinics that use per diem providers. The Institutional Laser Forms does not require distribution and record keeping to individual providers since the prescription software program will record the needed information.
